Volunteer with Youth for Christ

Answer the Call

Our Hope for Every Volunteer:

At YFC Lincoln, we don’t see volunteers as extra — you are an essential ministry partner. You are co-laborers in the Gospel, called and equipped by God to reach teens for Christ and invest in their lives. Our hope is to connect your God-given passions, gifts, and availability with a role that not only meets a vital role in reaching teens but also helps you grow deeper in your own faith journey.

We believe that as you serve, you are discipled even as you disciple others. Together, we share in the joy and challenge of Kingdom work — reaching young people for Jesus and walking with them as they discover His love and purpose.

Step 1

Explore the Opportunities

We have opportunities for people in every season of life. Whether you can give two hours a week or help at a single event, your contribution matters eternally. These roles are integral to our mission, directly engaging with the young people we serve. Volunteers must complete a thorough background check to ensure safety and trust. Additionally, all volunteers will participate in comprehensive ministry-safe training, equipping them with the necessary skills and awareness to foster a secure and supportive environment for our youth.

  • Walking with Young Parents
Young moms and dads are often isolated and overwhelmed. They need consistent, loving mentors to walk with them through pregnancy and parenting.

    Parent Life Mentor
What: Participate in the regular program. Meet girls and pray for them throughout the week. As you meet teens, find ways to build friendships, offer spiritual and emotional support, and be a positive role model.
How: 2-4 hours per week for at least one year. Consistency is key to building trust.

    Parent Life Program Support
What: Provide childcare during Parent Life group meetings, prepare or serve a meal, or teach a practical life-skills class (e.g., budgeting, cooking).
How: 2-3 hours, once or twice a month.

  • Reaching Students in Their World
Middle and high school campuses are modern mission fields. Students need to see authentic Christian faith in action from adults who care.

    Campus Life Leader
What: Co-lead weekly clubs that take place before or after school at a local public school. You'll facilitate discussions, build relationships, and help navigate life's challenges through a Biblical lens.
How: 2-4 hours per week during the school year.

    Campus Life Events Team
What : Chaperone trips and events, help with setup/teardown, serve food, or drive students (with appropriate clearances). Be a positive adult presence at our large-group gatherings.
How: Varies by event; typically 3-4 hours for a single event.

  • Bringing Hope Behind Bars
Incarcerated youth often feel forgotten and hopeless. They need to know that their past does not define their future and that God's grace is for them, too.

    JJM Chapel Leader
What: Lead or co-lead a weekly Bible study inside a juvenile detention facility. You'll share the Gospel, listen to their stories, and pray with them.
How: 2-3 hours per week. Requires special facility clearance and training.

    JJM Mentor
What: Connect with a teen while they are in a facility. Upon release help them get plugged into a local church, find positive activities, and continue their walk with Christ.
How: 1-2 hours per week for a minimum of one year. Requires special facility clearance and training.

    JJM Visitor
What: Go with our JJM director on a weekly basis to meet youth who have entered the facility for the first time. Meet them and connect with them.
How: 1-2 hours per week for a minimum of one year. Requires special facility clearance and training.

  • Be The Foundation
A vital role in keeping our ministry running strong, allowing our frontline staff to focus on reaching kids.

    Prayer Warrior
What: Commit to praying for our staff, volunteers, and the specific young people we serve. You will receive regular email updates with prayer requests and praises.
How: A commitment to consistent, faithful prayer from your own home. The most vital role in our ministry. Receive an invite to a monthly prayer gathering for YFC.

    Administrative Champion
What: Assist in the office with tasks like data entry, preparing mailings, making phone calls, or organizing supplies.
How: Varies each week or on a project-by-project basis based on your availability.

    Events & Fundraising Team
What: Help plan and execute our major fundraising events (like our annual Comedy Night, Tabernacle Experience, Fruit Sales, etc.). Tasks could include decorating, guest registration, securing auction items, or serving on the planning committee.
How: Varies. It can be a few hours for one event or a monthly committee meeting.

    Facility Team
What: Empower our staff to focus on working directly with kids by mowing, cleaning, landscaping, etc.
    How: 2-4 hours per month.
